Our service is consultant-paediatrician led, incorporates a multi-disciplinary approach where appropriate, and follows established National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE guidelines) to ensure a reliable and clinically sound process.

We provide specialist paediatric assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for children and young people.
All assessments are Consultant Paediatrician-led, follow a structured clinical process, and
are aligned with NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines.

Begin by completing a short enquiry form so our clinical team can review your child’s needs and confirm the most appropriate assessment pathway.

Parents and teachers complete structured questionnaires to provide insight into your child’s development, behaviour, and experiences at school.

You and your child attend our clinic for a detailed assessment conducted by our multidisciplinary team, including a Consultant Paediatrician and Speech and Language Therapist.

Our team reviews all assessment information. You will receive a feedback consultation along with a detailed written report outlining findings, diagnosis (if appropriate), and tailored recommendations for support.

No — you do not need a GP referral to access our services. Parents and carers can contact us directly to arrange an assessment.
We operate a structured initial triage process. Parents are invited to complete a short initial form. We review the information and advise on suitability and next steps. If appropriate, an assessment will then be arranged. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
No, however our initial enquiry form is reviewed by our clinical team beforehand to ensure there is a reasonable indication that an assessment is appropriate before proceeding.
Yes — our reports are written to meet NICE guidelines and are accepted by schools, GPs, local authorities, and other services.
For autism assessments our clinicians can see any child aged 3-16.
ADHD assessments are conducted for children aged 6-16.
Combined autism and ADHD assessments are conducted for children aged 6-16.
All assessments are led by a Consultant Paediatrician. For Autism assessments, a multidisciplinary approach is used, which may include input from a Speech and Language Therapist and a multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussion.
Yes. All assessments are conducted in line with recognised guidance from the National
Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), ensuring a structured and evidence-based
process.
Yes. You will receive a comprehensive written report following the assessment, which can
be shared with schools, GPs, and other professionals.
Assessments are conducted at Melrose Surgery, Reading, within a professional GP setting.
Some parts, such as feedback, may be conducted remotely.
